This summer the CCMRD accepted a new Tier 2 member, ASCO Aerospace Canada Ltd. A description of this latest addition to the CCMRD team can be found on the CCMRD Members & Partners page. The CCMRD also launched its fourth and fifth projects. These projects are developing and demonstrating technologies for the next generation of composite manufacturing factories and investigating the applicability of recently developed high temperature composite materials to aerospace applications.
The CCMRD has continued to pursue collaborations with Canadian and International organizations by joining the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada, participating in a CRIAQ / GARDN workshop in Montreal in June, the first CANNAPE workshop during the Paris Airshow in July and the GlobalNet conference of Boeing engaged technology centres in September. The CCMRD is actively supporting preparations for the Canadian hosted second CANNAPE workshop in November. These activities have connected the CCMRD and its members to the greater aerospace technology development and demonstration community and generated collaboration opportunities.
The CCMRD recently accepted two new Canadian Tier 2 members, Barrday Inc. and PCM Molds and Patterns. For a description of these new members please visit our CCMRD Members & Partners page by clicking here. The CCMRD extends a warm welcome to Barrday, PCM and their respective teams.
From March 20 – 25th, 2011, the CCMRD sponsored a Composites Trade Mission to the United Kingdom supported and organized by the Canadian High Commission to the United Kingdom. Several CCMRD members participated in the mission along with Bombardier Aerospace. The mission participants met with several UK based organizations including Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, Bombardier Aerospace – Shorts Brothers, University of Bristol and the National Composites Centre. They also participated in the International Conference on Manufacturing of Advanced Composites and a Canada – UK Composite Technology Partnering Workshop. The CCMRD offers many thanks to the mission participants for taking the time to participate, to the UK based host organizations and to the Canadian High Commission for the excellent organization and execution of this mission.
Mission Participants include representatives from: Barrday, Bombardier, Bristol Aerospace, CCMRD, Convergent Manufacturing Technologies, Cormer Aerospace, NRC – Institute for Aerospace Research, PCM Molds and Patterns, Profile Composites.
The CCMRD launched its third project in January. This project is the second phase of the Co-Process Development for Aerospace Structures activity. The CCMRD will be launching its fourth project to investigate high temperature materials shortly.
The CCMRD has launched its second project. This project will demonstrate industry based out of autoclave manufacturing of sandwich panels.
The CCMRD has finalized its new member selection and approval process. Thirteen companies have expressed interest in being the CCMRD’s first expansion members. Screening of these potential new members has begun.
The CCMRD recently participated in the GlobalNet 2010 conference. Visit our Global Net page by clicking here.
